Hanami Cherry Blossom Celebration 26

Sunday 29th March | 11:00 – 15:30

Join us as we celebrate the beauty of the cherry blossoms in the Japanese Garden, embracing the traditional Japanese custom of Hanami — the art of blossom viewing.

Hanami is an ancient Japanese tradition that marks the arrival of spring beneath the delicate blooms of cherry and plum trees. Friends and family gather under the blossoms to share seasonal food, drink sake, and appreciate the fleeting beauty of the flowers.

Your Experience

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed into the Japanese Garden and served:

  • A glass of Amazake (sweet sake)
  • Traditional wagashi confectionery
  • You will also receive a special Ema — a small wooden prayer plaque from the Fordham Matsuno’o Shrine, featuring this year’s horse motif. You are invited to write your wishes or prayers on the plaque and hang it by the shrine, following Japanese tradition.

↑ £30 per person per entry + above

Throughout the day, the following will be available for you to enjoy: (Extra)

  • Premium sake brewed at Fordham Abbey
  • Bento boxes (Highly recommended to pre order)
  • Freshly prepared Takoyaki

Relax beneath the cherry trees on benches draped in traditional red mosen cloth, and savour a peaceful afternoon inspired by Japanese springtime celebrations.

We look forward to welcoming you for a truly special Hanami experience.
